There should be a CLI to simplify PKI-specific DS management tasks including:

creating DS instance with PKI schema
populating DS instance with PKI base entries
configuring ACL for pkidbuser
generating client cert for pkidbuser
enabling SSL with client cert for pkidbuser
enabling LDAPI with autobind for pkidbuser

The CLI can be invoked by pkispawn during the initial installation, or directly by the admin post installation to update the DS configuration.
