Add better validation of domain names

Many config items that are supposed to be domain names have little or no validation right now (with the understanding that the provider or DNS servers will reject them if they are invalid). That's not a great user experience. It'd be a good idea to add validation from the beginning. And make sure it handles non-ASCII characters well too.
