Deploying to Azure with a build pipeline: Check revision started and other actions post-deploy

I've followed along with the guide here to set up a deployment pipeline to azure that's working well (in Azure DevOps pipelines in my case).

However I've occasionally had a problem where I've broken something that prevents the app from starting, in which case the pipeline runs successfully and all appears ok, but the revision doesn't actually start. So it stays on the previous revision (which you don't notice until you realize your changes aren't there and delve into the container UI in Azure). I'd also like to run some post deploy tests, and ideally revert the revision of failure.

Is anyone able to suggest an additional step in my pipeline after azd-deploy that can check the revision came up successfully? Been searching around azure-dev github issues, but not found a solution yet.
