Represents a base class for design-time tools, not derived from <see cref="T:System.ComponentModel.Design.ComponentDesigner" />, that provide smart tag or designer verb capabilities.

<remarks>
<format type="text/markdown">
## Remarks
The <xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.ComponentDesigner> class provides the <xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.ComponentDesigner.ActionLists%2A> and <xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.ComponentDesigner.Verbs%2A> properties to query for the <xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.DesignerActionList> and <xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.DesignerVerb> collections, respectively. However, if a design-time tool author decides not to derive from this class, the <xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.DesignerCommandSet> class represents an alternative base class to provide this functionality.
The <xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.DesignerCommandSet> class contains only three members, described in the following table.
|Public member|Description|
|-------------------|-----------------|
|<xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.DesignerCommandSet.GetCommands%2A>|Returns the collection of either the smart tags or designer verbs associated with the designed component. The base implementation returns `null`.|
|<xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.DesignerCommandSet.ActionLists%2A>|Gets the collection of all the smart tags associated with the designed component. The base implementation simply calls <xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.DesignerCommandSet.GetCommands%2A>.|
|<xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.DesignerCommandSet.Verbs%2A>|Gets the collection of all the designer verbs associated with the designed component. The base implementation simply calls <xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.DesignerCommandSet.GetCommands%2A>.|
A <xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.DesignerCommandSet> should be added as a site-specific service. Externally, a service of this type should first be queried to discover smart tag and designer verb functionality. If this service is not found, then the <xref:System.ComponentModel.Design.IDesigner.Verbs%2A?displayProperty=nameWithType> property should be used instead. This procedure provides a path for backwards compatibility.
