## Remarks
The <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle> class is used to represent the style settings for a panel control. It encapsulates the properties that control the appearance of a panel and can be applied to multiple panel controls to provide a common appearance.
You can specify an image to display in the background of the panel by setting the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.BackImageUrl%2A> property. The horizontal alignment of the contents of the panel is indicated by the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.HorizontalAlign%2A> property. The direction of controls that contain text within the panel control can be specified by setting the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.Direction%2A> property.
## Examples
The following code example demonstrates creating a <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle> object and setting its properties. This example has two parts:
A partial class, `PanelStylecs_aspx`, that demonstrates creating a new <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle> object and setting its properties.
A Web Forms page that uses the `PanelStylecs_aspx` example as its code-behind file.
The first part of the example demonstrates creating a <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle> object, `myPanelStyle`, and setting its properties. Then the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.WebControl.ApplyStyle%2A> method is called for both the `Panel1` panel and the `Panel2` panel, and `myPanelStyle` is applied to both of them.

:::code language="vb" source="~/snippets/visualbasic/VS_Snippets_WebNet/System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle/VB/panelstyle.vb" id="Snippet2":::
The second part of the example shows an .aspx file that is used with the previous example.

## Remarks
The <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.BackImageUrl%2A> property specifies the URL of the background image for the panel control. For this property to work, an image file must exist at the specified location. If the specified image file is not accessible, then the panel control is displayed without a background image.
## Examples
The following code example applies the same background image to two panel controls, `Panel1` and `Panel2`. For this example to work correctly, you must provide your own image. This code example is part of a larger example provided for the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle> class.

## Remarks
You can use the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.MergeWith%2A> method to combine the style settings of the specified <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.Style> object with the current instance of the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle> class.
The <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.MergeWith%2A> method copies non-blank elements from the specified <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.Style> object, `s`, but does not replace any existing style settings in the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle> object. To replace the style settings in the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle> object with the style settings in `s`, use the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.CopyFrom%2A> method.

## Examples
The following code example sets the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.ScrollBars%2A> properties of two panel controls, `Panel1` and `Panel2`, to the `ScrollBars. Both` enumeration value. This code example is part of a larger example provided for the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle> class.

## Remarks
The <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.Wrap%2A> property indicates whether the content wraps within the panel. When the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.Wrap%2A> property is set to `false` and the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.ScrollBars%2A> property is set to <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ScrollBars.Auto>, if the content of the panel is longer than what will fit in the panel, the content of the panel will appear on one line with a horizontal scroll bar. When the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.Wrap%2A> property is set to `false` and the <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.PanelStyle.ScrollBars%2A> property is set to <xref:System.Web.UI.WebControls.ScrollBars.None>, the panel will extend and if necessary the Web page will have a horizontal scroll bar.
