## Remarks
By default, any class that inherits from <xref:System.Windows.UIElement3D> uses <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer> to communicate with UI Automation.
If you create a class that inherits from <xref:System.Windows.UIElement3D>, you may want to provide an automation peer to support the functionality of your class. Override the <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer.GetClassNameCore%2A> method to return a string that represents the type of the element associated with the <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer>. For example, if you create a class called `My3DElement` and an automation peer called `My3DElementAutomationPeer`, override the <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer.GetClassNameCore%2A> method to return the string "My3DElement".
If your class matches one of the known control types, override the <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer.GetAutomationControlTypeCore%2A> method to return that <xref:System.Windows.Automation.ControlType>. Note that although the existing <xref:System.Windows.Automation.ControlType> values are generally associated with 2D controls, the <xref:System.Windows.Automation.ControlType> indicates a control's functionality, not its appearance. So if your <xref:System.Windows.UIElement3D> invokes an action when the user clicks it, you probably want <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer.GetHelpTextCore%2A> to return <xref:System.Windows.Automation.ControlType.Button?displayProperty=nameWithType>.
The behavior of your custom <xref:System.Windows.UIElement3D> determines what other methods you should override. Each method topic in the <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer> describes how the method is used and when it is appropriate to override it.
<xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer> is introduced in the .NET Framework version 3.5. For more information, see [Versions and Dependencies](/dotnet/framework/migration-guide/versions-and-dependencies).

## Remarks
This <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer> remains in memory until the associated <xref:System.Windows.UIElement3D> is destroyed.
The same instance of the <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer> is returned from subsequent calls to this method and to calls to <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer.FromElement%2A>. The type of the peer is determined by the <xref:System.Windows.UIElement3D.OnCreateAutomationPeer%2A> virtual callback. If <xref:System.Windows.UIElement3D> does not implement the callback, no <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer> is created and this method returns `null`.
<xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer> is introduced in the .NET Framework version 3.5. For more information, see [Versions and Dependencies](/dotnet/framework/migration-guide/versions-and-dependencies).

If your class matches one of the known control types, override the <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer.GetAutomationControlTypeCore%2A> method to return that <xref:System.Windows.Automation.ControlType>. ## Remarks
Typically, the <xref:System.Windows.Automation.Peers.UIElement3DAutomationPeer.GetHelpTextCore%2A> method returns a string that is the same text that the control provides in the tooltip.
