Effort

Design and develop layout components to improve the building speed of the application layout. At the same time, layout components can help to achieve more coherence in the spacing between elements and page hierarchy.

  • Research how we are going to build our layout system
  • Define how we can translate the research into usable components/Utilities
  • Define how those fit into the product designer's workflow
  • Design documentation
  • Implementation of the component in CDK’s

Some of the current solutions the teams are using are third-party (e.g., Bootstrap column system) or building the layout from scratch.

Impact

Product teams: Instead of building from scratch or understanding how to consume components from a 3rd party library, a centralized well documented assets can be a game changer in terms of design development speed.
