Right now changelog is created using gitchangelog and using commit messages.

This should change.

  1. Every PR must have a linked issue (unless explicitly stated as HOTFIX)
  2. towncrier must be used to manage changelog
    • Every PR must include a CHANGES/number.type file following towncrier specs

Reasons:

  • better organized changelog
  • better output for dependabot and pyup
