I tried using this script, it rendered Finder unusable and disabled my keyboard. I cannot type my password to get into System Preferences to disable it. I cannot type in safari or Notes or anything, just my password to start the computer. I have no idea how to undo this. It even disabled Fingerprints.

Update: Booted in Safe Mode and was able to enter my password to access system preferences. Disallowed automation for TuneOut and deleted it.

Interesting behavior. I'm sorry this script didn't work for you and I'm glad you were able to resolve your issue.
Thanks for the update.

This script was written in 2015 and isn't actively maintained so results may vary system to system.
The code is open source so you can see everything that it's doing or update it yourself to get it working with your system and applications.

Some additional details may spare others some trouble.

  • What version of Mac OS are you running?
  • What steps did you take to initialize the script?
  • Did you configure the script or exported app to run automatically on log-in?

I’m running Monterey. I know nothing about scripts and realized too late that it still references itunes.app instead of music.app. Not working wasn’t the issue, it was being totally locked out of the system. I couldn’t type, use my fingerprint or my iWatch to enter my password in System Preferences. I know that’s not something you coded it to do, but it was still concerning for a bit. As far as how I installed it… just followed the directions and launched it as an application.
