There was a long discussion about this in Slack but there are two issues:

  • We don't check for the existence of the libraries that we add to *_STATIC_LIBS
  • We don't build Flexiblas with static libraries (and that might not even be possible)

Another question that arose is why we have *_STATIC_LIBS but no *_SHARED_LIBS. Some easyblocks only use *_STATIC_LIBS because they contain a list of the libraries to link against.

Can this be closed thanks to also defining $BLAS_SHARED_LIBS now, see #3800?
