Problem?
The filter has no close button and clicking outside of it does nothing. You are forced to "apply filter".
At the same time, while it does not have a "close" button, you can click outside of item modals to close them:
A reset feature could also be beneficial so one doesn't have to pay attention to all options if their selection ends up messing up results.
Solution?
Make clicking outside the filter undo changes and close the modal/popup.
Add a close button. Or, if you think this would require adding "close" to all modals (which I'd be in favor of) but you don't want that. A great compromise could be a "X", as seen on YouTube (attached in mockups) this one by the way also closes when clicking into the grey area
Add a reset defaults option. If a button like mockups below, it should probably also apply those defaults and close the filter modal. Or move it away from the bottom and make it only reset without closing. Perhaps turn into a text link UI wise in that case? IDK. Could also be called "Clear"
