Ecore Tools currently uses the org.eclipse.ui.popupMenus extension point which is marked as deprecated for removal.

It's still used in an awful lot of places, including within the Eclipse projects themselves:

I think a good chunk of the ecosystem would collapse if action-based extension points were to be removed...
