can we finally resolve the lora compilation issues?

I am installing a fresh setup on my macbook. Guess what's the first thing one stumbles over?

First, some undefined lora symbol - can be fixed by editing the lmic_project_config.h inside the lora library and changing from US to EU there. Can we do that better so that is not needed?

Next is "Board not supported -- use an explicit pinmap" and "multiple definition of `hal_init';". #461

This is rather demotivating to anybody who wants to work on this project, especially if they do not even have lora hardware.
