On my site the following page displays documents:

http://globalintelhub.com/document/

When I do ANY search, or if I list the category as menu item:

http://globalintelhub.com/media-category/forex/

I get the following error:

Not Found
Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn't here.

OR in some cases the page simply does not load.

I should add that while documents are assigned to categories, in the main 'media categories' it shows documents zero on all categories.

Im not sure if I understand the problem you are having. Let me make a couple of things clear that might help.

This plugin does not:

  • Create a taxonomy for you.
  • Modify your themes behavior in anyway, including ways that might allow categorized images to show up in loops, search results, or any other archive or single templates

This plugin does:
Allow users who apply categories to media, or whatever taxonomy is being used by the plugin.
Allow developers (or non-developers who can add a single line of code) to change the taxonomy being used by the plugin.
Allow users to use the [gallery] shortcode to display taxonomized media.

The reason I explain this is because it seems what your talking about here is with regard to your theme not having archive pages, or these images not showing up in search results. That is simply something this plugin does not do. The plugin (at this time) is meant mostly for developers to add to their site's workflow so they cane make used of categorization of media within the themes they develop.

Please let me know if I have misunderstood, or why I can help any problem with the plugin itself.

@vectorinformatics are you still seeing this issue? I have a workaround (sorry, I can't explain how I caused the issue in the first place, but I've found this to work for me)

  1. click on the "0" displayed in the media column (see: http://cl.ly/image/3i0Y0K470i3u)
  2. confirm the image(s) listed on the page that loads when you click the link (yes, there are items even though the count is zero) are attached to a page/post on your site. (see: http://cl.ly/image/3i0U2s162r45). If the item(s) are unattached, then go ahead and attach 'em to a page/post. You can create a dummy page/post for this step if needed.
  3. Edit one of the media in question, removing all categories (see: http://cl.ly/image/1K1f1X2a1R24)
  4. Update the media from Test 1.5 in WordPress 3.4.2 #3, adding the categories back (see: http://cl.ly/image/0l1B0D1e1L3l)
  5. Return to your categories page, and voila! you now have a proper count. (http://cl.ly/image/3l1M3M1H1M09)

Hope this helps you, and helps the author figure out this bug.

@vectorinformatics - what you have indicated seems to be a valid bug regarding problem. I'll open a seperate ticket and link back to your comment. I believe it has to do with taxonomy caching.

The original point of this ticket though is not directly related.

Closing this since I don't have any clarification on the bug report.
@vectorinformatics , feel free to reopen this, or comment on this ticket if you come back and still have this issue.
