If I select anything but "Never" under "Auto-refresh subscriptions", PodListen ignores it and refreshes at seemingly random intervals. I tried setting it to "Every 2 days" and yet it refreshed at least every hour, typically every 15 minutes. In one case it tried to update a mere three minutes after the previous occasion. I didn't restart the app, add any new podcasts, turn Wi-Fi or data off and back on, or do anything that might force this behavior, and it occurred whether or not I dismissed the "update completed" notification.
"Never" does seem to work (i.e., it doesn't auto-refresh at all if I select this), and so for now I simply manually refresh every so often. I have no other issues with the app whatsoever; in general, it's the best podcast catcher I've found.
I am using version 1.3.6 from F-Droid on Android 6.0.1.

My informal observation has been that refreshes happen every time I enter or leave the coverage of a network. Same version of podlisten, and same setting of 'every 2 days' but on Android 5.44.4.4
I considered that network coverage might be a factor, so that was one of the first things I tested. For me, the unwanted refreshes continue occurring even if the device stays in the same spot in the same room -- i.e., I remain at home and am not "out and about" with it -- and the wi-fi connection is completely stable throughout. Even in the "three minutes after" case, the phone was sitting 100% stationary on a table.
