Please add relevant information about your setup -- which plugin, how are you using the Chef cookbook, do you have Java installed on the server, which version, etc...

hey, yeah elasticsearch installed fine, however the issue is when i am trying to install the plugin,

i am using the opscode java cookbook so I think it installed the openJDK version of java on the node.

Hey Actually I resolved this you were right, I forgot to install java i thought it would be installed by default with elasticsearch after installing java it worked! Doh! RTFM rite?

@zacksiri Yeah, this is a confusing issue. The solution is to add warnings to the bin/elasticsearch script in the upstream, that's something I'd like to tackle soon.
