I was using kibana today looking into some data that was indexed and mapped by someone else (rally). I'm trying desperately to filter on a date range and nothing parses. I ended up having to drop to the console and fetch the mapping to find out that the format that the date uses is yyyyMMdd'T'HHmmssZ. Could we, like, always accept yyyy-MM-dd'T'HH:mm:ssZZ in _search if it doesn't conflict with the defined format? Or maybe we could just advise folks to always support whatever_format_they_need|date_time in the mapping just to be kind?
