Tested with 5.1 and 5.3

Server OS version:

Original install method (e.g. download page, yum, from source, etc.):
Managed by AWS

Description of the problem including expected versus actual behavior:
If I choose one of the following quick time ranges in Timelion the results shown are in a time range starting from 9am:

  • Today
  • The day so far
  • Yesterday
  • Day before yesterday
  • This day last week

If I choose the same time ranges in discover mode I retrieve documents starting from 0am.

Result in discover mode
For "day before yesterday"

Result in timelion
For "day before yesterday"

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open time lion
  2. Select one of the quick time ranges from above
  3. Just run .es(*)
  4. Look at the time range on the x-axis

Is there any update on this issue? Also, #12375 is a potential duplicate.

There a similar visualization issue where date range bucket visualizations are also missing the aggregation's timezone setting: #14450

I was able to reproduce this by starting an instance of Kibana/ES on a box with a non-local timezone, while my desktop remained in the local zone.

timedatectl set-timezone GMT
service kibana restart

screen shot 2017-10-25 at 4 37 22 pm

timedatectl set-timezone America/New_York
service kibana restart

screen shot 2017-10-25 at 4 38 16 pm

I can reproduce it in Kibana 6.2.0 as well.

Is anyone currently working on this?

I'm really getting dizzy from this....
normal visualize cards are okay with several timezone, but only timelion query is shifted as much as timezone hour diff... offset function is only moving line chart, not x-axis...
how can I solve this?? any updates?
