Steps to reproduce

  1. Install element-nightly_2024041701_amd64.deb from packages.element.io on Debian bookworkm
  2. Start it up
  3. Segfault
element-desktop-nightly
/home/hubert/.config/Element-Nightly exists: yes
/home/hubert/.config/Riot-Nightly exists: no
Enabling Sentry with dsn=https://029a0eb289f942508ae0fb17935bd8c5@sentry.matrix.org/6 environment=nightly
Starting auto update with base URL: https://packages.element.io/nightly/update/
Auto update not supported on this platform
Fetching translation json for locale: en_EN
Changing application language to en
Fetching translation json for locale: en
Resetting the UI components after locale change
Resetting the UI components after locale change
Changing application language to en
Fetching translation json for locale: en
Resetting the UI components after locale change
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

The window briefly appears, but then disappears.

Nightly 2024041601 works fine.

Same on ubuntu 24.04.

(works fine if the window is not maximized, but as soon as I maximize it, it crashes instantly)

I think that #1653 fixed it.
