For future consideration:

The main benefit of breadcrumbs for me is spatial consistency - I always know where to click to go to the N-1st, N-2nd room etc. Making their size variable would impact this badly --M

I think, with that in mind, this is probably not worth having in a nice to have and needs more design work to validate if its worth doing - NW
