What would you like to do?

I would like to add the use of left and right arrows to navigate the emojis in the emojis picker.

Why would you like to do it?

It is more user-friendly than using up/down to go left and right in the grid of emojis.

How would you like to achieve it?

Have you considered any alternatives?

Using only left and right instead of up and down makes more sense to me, but it would be best to be able to use both and navigate it like a grid and not like a list.

It competes with left/right text navigation given the input is a text field, this would be poor accessibility

Sorry, my bad for the duplicate, I missed that one.
I do agree that having both would be better, but up/down have also an effect on the text navigation, and it makes more sense to press left/right to move from different emojis than up to go left and down to go right.
