Your use case

Currently if I set the accent color to be something else using a theme, it makes the online indicator the accent color.

These should probably be separate color choices. My accent color is red and it now looks like online is dnd

I ran into this, too.
Any way to use another color for the presence indicator? When I use accent-color in my custom theme, the presence indicator sets this color when the user is online.
