Room timeline keeps jumping upward forever.

Steps to reproduce

1. Where are you starting? What can you see?

   Anywhere.

2. What do you click?

   Click on a room in the sidebar.

Outcome

What did you expect?

To go to the latest message in that room and start chatting.

What happened instead?

The timeline scrolls back to some message (I don't know what message it's trying to get to), then loads more historical messages, then jumps to the top of those messages, then loads more, etc indefinitely.

Press esc or clearing notifications in a room doesn't consistently help. Refreshing the page doesn't consistently help. Clearing cache doesn't help.

This makes element completely unusable.
