Signing out of a large account takes forever

1. Log in to your massive account
2. Use it for a bit
3. Click log out
4. Wait 5 seconds and start to wonder if you're going to be logged out
5. Wait a couple more seconds to get the disconnected from homeserver warning
6. Seriously wonder if you broke the app
7. Get logged out

This is related to... some other issues in which the remains partially alive after you've tried to log out. It'd be a good one to fix (and I can't see why logging out should be a slow operation)
