No Sound via HDMI connection

What Happened?

After installing elementary os 7 on my mini desktop computer no sound output over hdmi conncection is available in the audio settings. Only the internal computer speaker is available in the audio settings.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Open sound menue in the top task bar
2. Open audiosettings
3. Select "Output" tab

Expected Behavior

I would expect that the HDMI output connection is available (and selectable) in the output tab of the audio settings.
