time+date too low on the screen on galaxy nexus

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. put it on a lockscreen on a galaxy nexus
2. activate pin code entry
3. lock device and open lockscreen

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

the time and date are too low on the screen so the date is cut in half (only 
upper half of characters is visible) when the pin entry pad is opened.

What version of the product are you using?

current play store version (r1)

Which device and Android version are you experiencing this issue on?

Galaxy Nexus, stock rom

Are you using a larger font size than the default?

yes, I have my font set to a bigger size (my eyes not that young anymore ;) )
