In Firefox (114.0.2 on MacOS) I need to disable and re-enable the plugin on every page reload.

You probably need to clear your history. Firefox caches files forever. It works for me if I reload the page without cache.

Unfortunately even if I disable cache for that page it doesn't help. Don't worry, I use social media less now so its not all bad.
