Equo IDE can make it possible to develop your own plugins for the Eclipse IDE without having to use p2 or OSGi. Like and subscribe to this issue to be notified when this becomes available.

Full dogfooding (as well as pure-maven-no-p2 plugins) are landing for Gradle in
