Currently, it is not possible to say things like 1 is pronounced as one. Thus, pronunciation differences need to be duplicated between the number written out as words vs. it written with numerals.

Note that for inflected languages number as word can be written in several different forms. E.g. in Latvian "1" as word can be written as word in following ways (sorted uniquely by alphabet, not by inflections):

viena
vienam
vienā
vieni
vieniem
vienos
viens
vienu
vienus

eSpeak does not currently handle number variants (inflected forms, gender (masculine, feminine, neuter), etc.). Indeed, for Latvian, 1 is currently using the viens form.

The reason for this issue is to avoid duplication of pronunciations, which can lead to inconsistencies. For example, in English, 16/sixteen, etc. are stressed differently. Also, words like one. three and thirteen vary on the accent, so ensuring that the numbers are consistent with the equivalent words is complex.
