As per the Cleanup Section of the Etcd.io Docs/SEO Improvement Plan

  • 1. Fix 404s: we have a lot of lost pages. These need to get replaced with redirects.
  • 2. Shorten redirect chains (not sure how many of these we have)
  • 3. Add a Documentation tag to both the Etcd and Website repos so that we can start tracking docs issues.
    • etcd-io/website
    • etcd-io/etcd

@nate-double-u do we need to handle broken links automatically or it can be fixed by hand?

I'm hoping we can automate some of the broken links work @alisher-matkurbanov.

I know that some of the links are broken due to how the site has changed between versions (see #90), for those links we'll probably need to think of a better way to handle links between versions, so that will likely need to be a manual change.

Sure, let's try to have some discussion on slack. Thanks!

@alisher-matkurbanov, PR #108 cleans up a lot of the broken links in the menu system, and cleans up all the broken links in the current version. I think that the broken links that remain after it's merged will likely need to be looked at manually.

I think the work in the layouts/index.redirects address point 2 here.
