Use font attributes w/o having to highlight #447

Users want to start a line or whatever bolded or with other similar attributes already selected. Currently, you have to write at least one character and then highlight it to get these attributes started.

I know it's very picky but it is a user request.

This is an important feature for my users too. (and I'd like it personally as well! :) )

Some just think that you can't use ctrl+b at all, because they're used to typing that way. From a user: "I'd really appreciate [more] keyboard shortcuts...! Most notably Ctrl+B for bold, and hopefully Ctrl+/ for numbered list, and Ctrl+. for bulleted list"
