since default setting of store size is around 20gb, nodes that run on laptops might sync a lot of data then disappear. this in turn causes a situation in which donuts are formed in the network and data disappears. light nodes should be hence the default mode of operation, and when someone wants to knowingly run a full node - they should do so by using a cli flag
