I just forked off of statsd to do exactly this. Reduced the number of metrics we were sending to graphite by roughly 25%. This really needs to be a configurable option |

This uses a configuration like the histograms. Its possible to specify to ignore specific timer data for specific metrics. See exampleConfig.js
I could not come up with a good name for this option, any suggestions ?
