need help please!!

hey all, I keep getting stuck on "exploit failed (error code: -31)" while attempting to jailbreak. I'm trying to jailbreak an iPad Air 1 on iOS 12.5.5 using checkra1n. the iPad is activation locked (lost and found; not a stolen device).

I'm not super familiar with using linux or these tools. do I need to jailbreak the ipad first, before bypassing the activation lock? or vice versa? I have already gone through the complete install of the toolkit.

any assistance is greatly appreciated

i’ve been connecting the ipad via a lightning cable usb

there is a bug with A7 chip on linux, when checkra1n tells you ''this is the real bug setup'', wait 10 seconds then unplug the ipad or iphone and reconnect it as fast as you can.
