Hey guys, this isn't a negative, pushy question so please don't take it that way. I'm trying to get a pulse for the health of the library or if this project is no longer alive? It's been a while since there has been any update and so I'm not sure if that's bc not much is happening or bc it just hasn't been communicated.

Thanks for everything, just trying to make our own roadmap and trying to determine the best way to move forward in regards to chat.

Hi, I am glad to see that there is so much interest in the package even though it is not being maintained for quite some time now. I would also like to acknowledge that not much has been communicated from my side or I have not been able to work on it more, I know the first plan for v2 was communicated more than 9 months ago to the users of the package and nothing more has happened since then. The reason for that was I just completed my bachelor's and got a job and didn't have much time to work on this package, second reason being I was not working on Flutter anymore, v2 is a big undertaking and that's why I wanted to do it right.

As for the future of the package, I recently joined a new company and they are developing a social media platform & they will soon start implementing chat into the app so I am planning to build the v2 for them and it will still be open source, think of it as them sponsoring this project.

Hope this clears up all your questions :)

@fayeed
Congrats on graduating and landing a job! Thanks for letting us know what's going on and for all the work you put into v1.

I've also been busy recently, in my current company we are using the v1 in production but the chat feature was not our priority and the updates on it got delayed, however, we should soon work on it again. My plan is also to align the needs of my company on the chat feature with the work on the v2, the v2 is gonna happen at some point for sure 😅

I started working on the v2 and pushed it here: https://github.com/molteo-engineering-team/Dash-Chat-2, there is no documentation yet and it's not 100% done but the core features are there. Feel free to take a look/try it. (It's not published yet as it's not done but you can still try it by added the repo link in your dependencies)

I obviously have a lot of other things on the plate but I'm trying to work on it when I have some time, we are still using the v1 in production in my company and it's working fine with all the added logic and overwritten code that we made.

However, the goal is to make it easier for everyone and not have to implement all this complexity while keeping it highly customizable for people who want to go crazy with it
