Debian/sid (fcitx 4.2.9.1)

Step

See https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=763853

  1. Setup the following keyboard on gnome-shell and settings
    English (US) / Arabic (qwerty)
  2. Setup fcitx's im module such as fcitx-mozc and set default as it to GTK_IM_MODULE
  3. Run attached program on https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=763853
  4. Switch from US to Arabic by super + space

Result

direction-changed signal is ever fired a lot until switching to English (US).

emm, but fcitx will manage keyboard layout. Though I know it doesn't work anymore under gnome-shell, because silly mutter always set it back to it's internal value. Probably you want to disable xkb addon in fcitx.
