Describe the bug
The "Pinyin" icon is unnaturally large compared to the "keyboard" icon, as seen in the following screenshot:

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • Desktop: XFCE
  • Display server type: X11

Versions:

local/fcitx5 5.0.4-1 (fcitx5-im)
    Next generation of fcitx
local/fcitx5-chinese-addons 5.0.3-1
Addons related to Chinese, including IME previous bundled inside fcitx4
local/fcitx5-configtool 5.0.2-1 (fcitx5-im)
    Configuration Tool for Fcitx5
local/fcitx5-gtk 5.0.3-1 (fcitx5-im)
Fcitx5 gtk im module and glib based dbus client library

It's been like this since Fcitx v4.

bug is in your tray implementation. not fcitx.

tray menu itself should resize the icon.

Managed to fix this. For others having this issue, to fix this:

  • Copy the file /usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/apps/fcitx-pinyin.png somewhere, say /tmp/fcitx-pinyin.png.
  • Resize it to 16x16.
  • Run xdg-icon-resource install --size 16 /tmp/fcitx-pinyin.png

This should fix the icon size, and there's no need to restart anything.

this is not an actual fix. Please report the bug to xfce.

It is quite obvious that this bug is in xfce4-panel's systray.

For example, this is what it looks like under kde:
