mathcaptcha error message not showing up

I'm using mathcaptcha in my forms and in general it has an error message associated with it (this is the Invalid captcha value message). However that error message is not showing up when bootstrap for contact form 7 plugin is enabled (and when disabled - it's showing up as expected).
