Then why would it come with netscape?

Not sure. From what I can tell there is no network functionally enabled for this.

A couple of other options are PCem and Virtualbox if you want a more fully featured VM.

I can personally vouch for PCem. Works great and even emulates the older graphics cards. Networking works as well.
