With classic file explorer I would drag&drop a .exe from anywhere with the right click to the desktop and I would select "create shortcuts here".
With Files the right drag&drop doesn't work, but the left drag&drop offers something similar
However clicking on "create shortcut here" doesn't work. Simply no shortcut is added to my desktop.

I emptied the debug.log, did the create shortcut and it was still empty after.

Noticed this as well. My current workaround in 2 steps: create the shortcut in the current folder and then move the shortcut per drag&drop
Sorry, something went wrong.
I tried that too but somehow the shortcut created this way didn't work.
My workaround is copying the path of the parent folder from address bar, paste it in File Explorer and use that to make the desktop shortcut.
