Description

I have several smb shares connected in explorer (pushed & named via group policy settings). These shares do show in in Files, but neither have a drive letter nor the name previously chosen. I can rename them in Files (explorer notices that), but these settings don't stick in Files. Once I restart Files they're back to their previous values, e.g. "folder" (the shares are something like this: \server\folder).

Steps To Reproduce

  1. Install Files (V.3.3.0.0)
  2. Have some network shares (smb) connected
  3. Observe missing drive letter / name on the shares in Files
  4. Rename in Files, so the name matches what's visible in explorer
  5. Restart Files
  6. Observe that the name is gone and reset to what was there before

Requirements

Expected behaviour:

  • use drive letter / name of network shares as visible in explorer & don't forget it when restarting Files

Files Version

3.3.0.0

Windows Version

W10 - 19045.4046

Thanks for the report, can you

  • upload a screenshot of what's shown in Window File Explorer and Files
  • Say where the group policy is

To the right:

"Files" showing two network shares as "pc1" (shares: \server1\pc1 and \server2\pc1) and one share as "robert (H:)" (share: \server1\CIFS.HOMEDIR)

To the left:

"explorer" showing the same. Both shares get auto connected via GPO as "G:" and "I:" and renamed to "Group" and "Archive"
