In the Column view, it is not possible to open a folder in the current tab. If we want to explore a large folder that is in the 4th column, it would be convenient to reopen this folder as the basis of the Column view. This can only be done in a new tab or window.
Solution/Idea
Replace the "Open" command on the Column view folders with a "Display/Show/Explore" command. The "Open" command (in the context menu) is used to open the folder in the current tab. This is consistent with the use of "Open" in other views, on Column view files, and the Column view "Open in a new tab" command.
The Return key, which is useless on folders in Column view because the display is used to open the folder in the base of the view, is used for open the folder in the current tab (as base of the Column view). This is consistent with the action to open files.
In addition, we can handle rollback. If we go back from a parent (action in the toolbar), we display the parent but the current element is already selected as the current element (if it is a folder, we see its children) and even the sub-children that were already selected.
It is the possibility of moving forward/back one level to clarify the display and avoid getting lost in a distant level.
