to-do checkboxes misbehaving

To do checkboxes are not working as they should.

When you try to check the first item of a list, it makes a new item on the previous line.
If you try to check and uncheck the same box many times, it will loop and do the following:

1. Uncheck the checkbox in the previous line then
2. Uncheck clicked checkbox then
3. Check the checkbox in the previous line then
4. Check clicked checkbox
