I also tried OpenCL->CUDA10.1->GTX970 and it works again too. Not sure when it broke or when it was fixed, but I also quit trying it for a while.

Ask and you shall receive. PMT provides builds of releases as well as master and dev branches for different platforms.
The Latest Github dev branch build is what you need (CUDA builds also support AMD).

the dev branch is updated and tere are no precompiled bunaries available

2.9.0 Works with AMD card on a single card system . Its not working and i get the same error for a dual card system.

I also tried Commit 09a92e9 (Pull Request 2274) and dc0d5e1 (Pull Request 2273). Both arent working for a dual gpu system. (someone reported 2273 worked earlier ).
