Installing PROM & PCSX2

  1. Download the latest version of PROM here.
  2. Download the installer for current stable version of PCSX2 here.
  3. Open PROM (it opens Wineskin) and select Install Software. Do not mess with other settings or you may get undesired results.
  4. Select the installer and follow on-screen instructions. Ensure you select Standard Installation. (You may want to untick the checkbox for creating a shortcut on desktop.)
  5. Untick Run PCSX2. Close the window.
  6. Wineskin will ask you where to locate the executable file. Select C:/Program Files (x86)/PCSX2/pcsx2.exe.
  7. Quit Wineskin, and open PROM again. PCSX2 will open.
  8. Proceed as normal with the First-Time Configuration. Your BIOS files needs to be in ~/[user]/Documents/PCSX2/bios. Attempting to open C:/users/[user]/Documents will open your own Documents folder instead.

Updating PROM

  1. Uninstall PROM. This won't remove setting files in ~/[user]/Documents/PCSX2.
  2. Download the latest version of PROM here.
  3. Repeat "Installing PROM & PCSX2" section from step 3, assuming you still have the PCSX2 installer. This won't overwrite setting files.

Updating PCSX2

  1. Right-click PROM and click Show Package Contents. Open Wineskin.
  2. Repeat "Installing PROM & PCSX2" section from step 3. This won't overwrite setting files.

Installing PCSX2 portable version

  1. Follow "Installing PROM & PCSX2" section, but for step 4, you select Portable Installation.
  2. With the portable version, technically you can put PROM and ISO files on a USB stick or flash drive. You will need to access all PCSX2 files from within PROM. Do not install PCSX2 outside of PROM, this includes installing PCSX2 to Documents folder. Select Program Files (x86) for that only.
  3. To access PROM files, right-click it and click Show Package Contents. Open drive_c folder.
