Wondering a bit which apps this would be useful for. Keep in mind verification only really exists for user apps not runtimes / sdks / addons.

I was originally interested in this for https://flathub.org/apps/org.freedesktop.Bustle. I asked someone at freedesktop.org nicely and they added the magic file. Somewhat awkwardly this actually now lives on GNOME infrastructure so at some point I guess its app ID should change.

Someone objected at the time that freedesktop.org is not for end-user apps (but it's been there since 2011 IIRC). Looking on Flathub today there are a few refs matching app/org.freedesktop. which are “real” apps.
