Invoke cropping code without showing any UI

I am showing a grid of images, which when tapped opens the PhotosCropViewController that lets the user crop the image using a given pixel aspect ratio. I want the images in my grid to be pre-cropped, so the preview image in the grid is exactly the same as the one shown when opening PhotosCropViewController before performing any editing. Is there any function I can use from the library to edit my UIImages to do this?
