The current flycheck calls s-numeric?, but I don't have such a function on my system.

Ok. I did run "git submodule update", but I suppose it's not a project
submodule?

It is not. It is a package requirement.

With package.el I see no reason to additionally include dependencies as submodules. Install from MELPA as recommended.
