How to disable messages (nvim-notify)?

I found them a little bit overhelming and slow, how can I disable them completely?
I've add this to config but they still appearing:

Just disable noice and/or nvim-notify?

This ended up being the magic bullet as alluded to by @folke:

Prior to that, I tried passing in setup options to Noice like:

   messages = {
      enabled = false,
    },

To no avail.
