I downgraded the firmware from V01.06.0000 to V01.04.0000. I downloaded the package for this version. I did everything according to the read me file. The process went smoothly and was successful. The software version has not changed. According to the Troubleshooting section, the version may remain unchanged. Following the tip, I started the rooting procedure. Failed, process aborted with "The firmware on your device is too new. You may be able to downgrade to V01.01.0606 in DIY mode with DJI FPV Assistant 2 depending on the exact version installed. Please see the wiki for more details. ".

Can anything be done about it?

You need to downgrade to V01.00.0606 for rooting first. You can re-upgrade later.

I know that. As I wrote above, butter does not lower the software version.

"I downgraded the firmware from V01.06.0000 to V01.04.0000".

You say you downgraded to V01.04.0000 above, but you need to downgrade to the much older V01.00.0606 instead.

Good evening, I have 607 on main fpv menu but 606 on diy mode.

When i go to root it still recognises the 607 and on step 3 its say firmware too new

Any ideas, i have run butter but on diy mode, the root flash seems to be picking the main fpv settings

You must also be in DIY mode for the root to work

@famousamos793 please try again, rebooting the goggles in between, it may take several tries.

This turns out to be an old issue where the configurator would detect the situation and ask you to do so. The latest versions seems to have mixed up some error messages. We'll fix it ASAP.

I was just stuck with this exact same issue as well, but managed to get past it!
I was on Version: 01.07.0000 - attempted downgrading to V01.01.0606 with butter - in DIY mode.
Attempted Rooting multiple times (in DIY Mode). Kept getting Failed! notice.

On this final (apparently successful) attempt, I left the goggles attached and began navigating in the DJI Menu on the goggles - Settings - Device - Device Info
All of the sudden, the goggles restarted - and when I looked up, I saw the Root was successful.
It seems navigating the menu resolved the glitch?

It's random with the V2 Goggles (or at least appears so, we don't know why) and you need to try mulitple times. The menus shouldn't be related.

The current live version simply has a regression where it gives you the wrong error, instead of telling you to power cycle and try again.
